Exploring Caves

Come explore the hidden world of caves! Caves are mysterious, geological wonders that offer us a glimpse into a hidden world. Caves showcase wonders like stalactites and stalagmites and diverse animal life and stories of past human inhabitation. You will earn through reading, videos, worksheets, and research. You will explore caves such as, Mammoth (USA), the world longest cave system, and the Waitomo Glowworm caves (New Zealand) which is known for their bioluminescent inhabitants. The most exciting caves you will research is the Hoang Son Doong (Vietnam) the cave is so big it has its own weather system, it actual rains inside the cave. Let’s go deep inside the world of caves to discover all the interesting things about them! You may know the capital of Maryland is Annapolis, and that the state bird is the oriole. But did you know Maryland was named after Lord Baltimore's wife, Mary? Did you know that Baltimore Harbor was one of the most important tired ports in the world? Did you know the only place you can get Smith Island Cake is in Maryland? Come join us as we explore Maryland's very important place in our nation.
