Piedmont Blues Guitar

“Piedmont” blues is the funky, syncopated acoustic blues style of the US East Coast and includes players such as Sonny Terry, Brownie McGee, John Cephas, Phil Wiggins, and Elizabeth Cotten. This course for advanced-beginner to intermediate guitar players introduces basic elements of Piedmont fingerpicking. Students will learn picking patterns in different keys and will learn to play two complete tunes in the Piedmont blues tradition. Bonus: this course will run concurrently with a Piedmont Blues Harmonica class, and the two classes will share time to jam! Students need to have their own acoustic guitar and a capo.
