This course is an exploration of the most interesting visual storytelling from around the globe. Watch and discuss some of the most acclaimed foreign films of the last sixty years, ranging from Carol Reed's The Fallen Idol (1948) to Palme d'Or winner La Dolce Vita (Italy, 1960). We continue with award winners Fanny and Alexander from Sweden (Oscar, 1982) and The Piano from New Zealand (Palme d'Or, 1993). We close our journey with Oscar-nominated Amélie (France, 2001) and Oscar-winning Anatomy of a Fall (France, 2023). All films will be available online or provided by the instructor.
