The crime film has been a staple of motion pictures from the early days of cinema.  This course will discuss crime movies from the silent era into the time of talking pictures.  We will examine the film noir movies of the 1940s and 1950s.  We will look at review films of the 1960s and 1970s, such as "Topkapi" and "The Sting", as well as organized crime movies like the two major "Godfather" films.  We will also look at the so-called Neo-noir films in color of the 1980s and 1990s.  Clips from multiple films will be shown.
