Use industry-standard recording tools techniques to record and produce music. Learn sound mixing, leveling, and mastering on a digital audio workstation (DAW) and related software. Learn to manage your recording environment and apply the right gear to the situation, including microphone types and uses. Fine-tune your ear to catch problems in your recordings and find out how to solve them. Apply mixing and mastering techniques for professional-quality results. Finish class with final music projects exported to digital files. Prerequisite: FLM022/MUSC141 Class Piano I, FLM070/MUSC184 Music Theory: Introduction, or a working understanding of music theory. Computer experience and a background in music are preferred.
