Through close listening, lyrical analysis, contemporary research in psychology and neuroscience, and structured reflective practice, students explore how artistic expression can cultivate focus, resilience, compassion, and critical awareness. Students analyze major hip-hop works alongside peer-reviewed research on attention, stress reduction, cognitive flexibility, and emotional regulation. Particular
emphasis is placed on how rhythm, narrative, and poetic language function as tools for identity formation, self-reflection, and social awareness. No prior musical training or meditation experience is required.
