Get ready to bring your imagination to life—literally! In this camp, you’ll dive into the world of puppetry, where anything is possible. You’ll design and build your own puppet out of recyclable and natural materials, learn tricks to make your character move and “come alive,” and team up with new friends to put on a short performance. Along the way, you’ll explore how puppets can be used to tell stories, share ideas, and even shine a light on topics that matter to you. At the end of the week, you’ll take center stage (with your puppet, of course!) and show off your original creation in the final performance. As part of this camp, you’ll also earn 10 MCPS Student Service Learning (SSL) hours by creating a performance that raises awareness about a community or social issue. By using puppetry as your voice, you’ll learn how art can inspire change, educate others, and make a difference in your community—all while having fun and working as part of a team. Your instructor, Alice Langholt, Ph.D., is a Reiki Master Teacher, EFT Practitioner, Intuitive Counselor, and a prolific author. She teaches at Montgomery College with the Lifelong Learning Institute and Youth Programs.
