Have you ever wondered what it really takes to afford an apartment? You'll learn how to create a realistic housing budget and understand the financial responsibilities that come with renting your own place. You'll start the day by calculating a livable rent budget using the 30% rule, reviewing a sample lease, and exploring how credit and rental history can affect rental approval. In the afternoon, you'll take a FinancialField Trip® to a local Montgomery County apartment community, where a leasing team will guide you through a model unit and answer your questions about rent, security deposits, lease terms, and move-in requirements. By the end of the program, you'll complete a rent-budget worksheet and gain a practical understanding of what it takes to afford housing, manage expenses, and avoid missed payments. In partnership with Diapers 2 Deposits.
