Explore how social tango brings together people from diverse backgrounds and fosters community. Through readings, videos, and class discussions, students examine the impact of social tango on individuals and society. The course investigates how tango has both reflected and challenged social norms throughout its history, evolving alongside changing attitudes about gender, class, race, and ethnicity. Students also explore how contemporary tango communities are reimagining tradition, fostering inclusion, and using dance as a catalyst for social connection and transformation.
