Construction Estimating includes an overview of the estimating process, estimator's role, bidding process, contract documents, and other requirements impacting the preparation of a construction estimate. Emphasis is placed on preparing quantity takeoffs for general conditions, site work, concrete, masonry, structural steel, wood, thermal and moisture control, doors, windows, and finishes. Common pricing techniques and the use of computers in estimating are introduced. A basic knowledge of construction, plan reading, and basic math is required.
