Archived Lumens announcements for staff.

Update! - August 1, 2023
Spring 2024 is open for building.
Please remember to build around skip dates (dates when the college is open but the class will not meet). This is a necessary step for Banner compatibility.  Also add the dates to the skip date list so that they appear in the print catalog.

Update! - June 12, 2023

New ways to search for classes.
Catalog, Category, Subcategory and CRN are now available in the Advanced Search Options feature.  Like with all other advanced search options, only active and upcoming classes will display.

Please remember to submit revisions and to set the CRN status to revision.

New Co-Listed Pricing for AY 2023/2024

Co-listed course tuition and fees increased for academic year 2023/2024. The new co-listed fee table is posted in the WDCE Course and Schedule Management Blackboard organization under Content>Lumens Training Videos>Course Building Documents>Co-listed Pricing>Co-Listed Pricing AY 2023/2024.  Please be sure to use the new prices when building Fall 2023 classes.  Please also submit revisions for Fall 2023 classes that have already been assigned CRNs.

Update!  - April 5, 2023
Public Display is Active

Today, many open enrollment and co-listed classes offered by WDCE programs began displaying for the first time to the public via Lumens.  Hopefully, this will translate to more students in WDCE classes.  It is important to note that registration via Lumens is still limit to Youth Programs classes only.  All other students will continue to register via MyMC and Banner.

How will this affect our current processes for building and revising courses and CRNs?  First, course descriptions should be submitted to Amy Moore for review.  It is important that course descriptions are optimized for both print and online marketing purposes and that they are free of typographical and grammatical errors.

Next, your process for building new courses and classes/CRNs in Lumens remains the same.  The revision process will also remain the same.  Specially, this means that you will continue to select “No” for public display and “No’ for public registration.  Add a do not display note to the internal comments fields of open enrollment and co-listed classes that you do not want to display to the public.  Contract, training agreement and grant classes will continue to be hidden from public view.

Finally, as part of our course and CRN building process, Linda and I will thoroughly review your classes in Lumens prior to configuring them for public display.  Classes with errors will not display and they will be returned to you for correction.  We have already begun reviewing and returning classes.  It is important that you make the necessary corrections and confirm with us so that we may make them viewable to the public.

Change to the usage of Class level fields Comment and Special Notice
Going forward, please add your public notes for students to both the Comments and Special Notice fields at the class level.  The text in the two fields should be identical.  This change will result in messages displaying publicly on the web for students and printing on registration confirmations.  This process change is part of our preparation for Lumens public display and Banner integration.
