Join us for an exciting week of hands-on learning as you analyze and interpret various crime scene evidence. Throughout the camp, you will examine hair samples by identifying and comparing human and animal hair under the microscope, honing your analytical skills. You will also conduct fiber analysis, testing your abilities to identify unknown fabrics—a crucial step in crime scene investigations. Engage in presumptive blood tests and blood typing to uncover vital clues about a person’s identity while exploring the fascinating intersection of chemistry and forensics through the study of drugs and their effects. Additionally, you will utilize forensic techniques to analyze and reconstruct documents, piecing together evidence to uncover the truth behind the crime. Throughout the week, you will apply your newfound skills to solve captivating cases and learn how forensics can prevent wrongful convictions. To cap off the experience, you will design an informative pamphlet for the Innocence Project, earning 4 Student Service Learning (SSL) hours in the process. Join us for an unforgettable week of teamwork, crime-solving, and discovery! Instructor: Heather Ward, MCPS teacher
