Are you ready to make a positive impact in your community by learning how to inspire and support children? Do you want to create change by volunteering at workshops in your local school, church, or library? In this camp, you’ll dive into the foundations of child development, behavior management, and activity planning. You’ll also learn how to market yourself and prepare for success, including mastering interview skills. With these tools, you’ll be ready to approach schools and organizations that offer childcare during parent training sessions, workshops, and meetings. Safety will be a key focus as you explore how to protect both yourself and the children in your care. The camp fee includes certification in CPR and First Aid. You’ll also discover career paths in early education and potential college opportunities. As part of the experience, you’ll take a virtual field trip to the Montgomery College Early Education Center to see early education in action. Plus, this camp is approved by MCPS for 10 Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Instructor: Chrissy Shawver and Tracey Clay
