The taste of watermelon-the memory of your birthday- the wonder of optical illusions-the meaning of dreams-understanding this is all made possible through psychology. In this hand-on class, you will learn the regions of the brain and construct model brain and discover the functions of the five senses and test their functions. You will create optical illusions, understand the stages of sleep, and meaning of dreams. You will learn ways to improve your memory, and discover techniques to train people and pets. You will also discover how and why people act in certain situations and ways to improve your happiness. This is an introductory course for high school psychology. In addition to psychology concepts, we will look at skills to help students succeed in high school and AP Psychology.?In addition, you will conduct a research project on mental health issues in our community, and create a poster to support awarenessMCPS has approved this camp session for 10 Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
