Prepare for the writing section of the SAT and ACT. Analyze typical essay prompts and sample responses. Learn to support your opinions by using your own experiences and readings to accomplish the task of writing to a persuasive prompt. Using logical thinking, enhance your awareness of the structure of your arguments and avoid fallacies in reasoning. Practice writing the parts of an essay, composing entire essays, and revising and evaluating your own writing and that of your peers. Engage in group games and activities to heighten your knowledge and skill set of grammar and test taking skills. Increase your ability to write in timed situations. Add rhetorical strategies to your repertoire of writing skills and improve your understanding of Standard English usage through instruction, individual and group practice. Enhance your skill set for the multiple-choice questions on both tests. In small groups break apart all types of multiple-choice questions to arrive at effective methods for answering them. Practice skills learned and take practice tests to heighten your comfort with the testing situation. Instructor: Jennifer Bauer
