Ever think about writing a short story? Learn the craft elements that can make a story sing, as well as some ways of coming up with ideas on what to write about. Using Janet Burroway’s Writing Fiction as a text, students will read short stories, try their hand at different writing exercises, and have the opportunity to workshop one short story. Discuss how to create compelling characters, plots and story structure. Learn how to get your work published.
Required text.  A Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft, tenth edition, by Janet Burroway.
